A flexible mini snake camera is often used by plumbers and homeowners to find the location of the clogs in the sewage pipeline. This kind of camera with light source can allow you to visualize the clogs better than infrared models.
Surfing through the drain system usually required two people, as it can be difficult to control the snake and check the display for clogs and obstructions at the same time. Thus when you are attempting to solo the process, remember that it will go much slower and constantly diverting your attention from the display to the snake and vice versa could make you miss a clog or to damage the snake. And one more thing to remember, before you begin checking the pipes, you should always put on a pair of gloves in order to protect your hands and get better traction when the snake becomes slippery.
Obviously, the flexible mini snake camera should be inserted into the drain’s entry point with the camera end first. You will need to use a gentle, clockwise motion, as to avoid damaging the camera when you encounter a clog.
Whenever you come across an obstruction, refrain from trying to clear it using the camera snake. Withdraw the device in a counterclockwise motion and proceed to clearing the clog. From this point on, it is virtually a rinse and repeat task.
Each time you run across an obstruction, remove the snake and clear it until there are no more obstructions remaining in the drain. On a side note, for deeper or stubborn clogs, you may have to call a plumbing contractor.
